On Tuesday, December 5, 2023, the boy’s swim team had their first meet of the season against Downingtown High School at Perkiomen Valley High School.
PV won the first race in the 200-yard medley relay. The lane that won consisted of Griffin Crothers (backstroke), Evan Croy (breaststroke), Andrew Keenan (butterfly) and Casey Demark (freestyle).
This meet was the first of the season with ten more to go. “It’s always good to start to a meet with a win,” junior Andrew Keenan said. “It is a good start to the beginning of the season and hopefully it shows that we will do well this year.”
Throughout the relay, lanes three and four were very close and they finished within less than a second of each other. “I was trying to keep my stroke fast and strong and rely on what I know,” Keenan said. “ I always have some nerves, but once the relay starts there is nothing you can do but rely on your training.”
Even though the team won the first relay the meet still had many more events. “I felt tired, but knew that once I finished that relay, the rest will be easier,” senior Griffin Crothers said. “I still had lots of things to do but it felt great to start the meet on a good note.”
Ultimately, PV beat Downingtown with a final score of 102-83. See the boys compete at Norristown High School on Thursday, December 14th for their next race against Norristown at 3:45 p.m.
