The Philadelphia Eagles Christmas album was a wonderful surprise that blends the passion of football and the holiday spirit. The new 11-song album, A Philly Special Christmas Special, comes as the team’s second release after their 2022 EP, A Philly Special Christmas.
The team released the rest of the album just in time for the holiday season on December 1st. Perfectly capturing the essence of the Philadelphia holiday season, the album begins with a remix of the classic song “This Christmas,” featuring right-tackle Jordan Mailata and famous R&B singer and Philly native Patti LaBelle. I loved this song—Mailata has the best voice on the album!
Another song worthy of mention is the remix of “Pretty Paper” with Lane Johnson, the star left tackle for the Eagles. Fans, including myself, ran to this song to listen to Lane Johnson sing.
“It was amazing, especially for an NFL player!” said senior Jack Tarloski after his first listen.
Lastly, the new original song “Fairytale of Philadelphia” includes the star center Jason Kelce and his brother Travis Kelce, Kansas City tight end. With lyrics like “When you first took my hand on a cold Christmas Eve, you promised me Broad Street was waiting for me,” the song truly encapsulates the incomparable feeling of Christmas in Philadelphia.
“I love listening to the New Heights podcast; I knew anything the Kelce’s would put out would be great,” senior Evan Kenny said.
Even Chiefs fans sprinted to listen to this song, and it reached #1 on the iTunes chart. I highly recommend that you take a listen to this album if you are an Eagles fan because it’s an incredible experience hearing the players you love sing hit Christmas songs!
