In a somewhat close presidential election on November 8, Donald Trump managed to win and surprise many Americans.
In the 2016 election between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, Trump won with 290 electoral votes. Hillary Clinton was close with 232 electoral votes.
“I was almost positive Hillary Clinton would win. Everyone I knew thought the same thing.” said Hailee Powell, a 9th grader at Perkiomen Valley High School.
The election was on November 8 and voting polls were open from about 6:30AM to 8PM. Millions were encouraged go to out and vote to express their freedom as Americans.
The election results didn’t come out until about three-four AM.
“The first thing I saw when I woke up was everyone talking about Trump winning on social media. I was shocked!” said Gabby Naples, a 9th grader at PV.
Many Trump supporters were pleasantly surprised, to say the least.
“I definitely support Donald Trump, and I didn’t even think he would win. Not that I’m upset about it, but I have heard that a lot of people are.” said Charlotte Arnao, a PV student.
After Donald Trump won, some began to protest. They say they are scared of what he might do during his presidency.
“Personally, I am sort of scared because I don’t really know how this will turn out.” said Riley Berrodin, a PV student.
While others are shocked, some say they knew he would win.
“I had a feeling people would end up voting for Donald Trump. With a democrat as president for such a long time, I think some people wanted to switch it up.” said Ryan Sullivan, a 9th grader at PV.
Some are scared for our future, and some are ecstatic. The only way to know the future of America is to wait and find out. ⬥
