A Show of Skills

As the sun set and the locals began emerging for a night on the town this past Friday, Perkiomen Valley AP Art students, along with their family and friends, made their way to the Phoenix Village Art Center for a special event.

The Phoenix Village Art Center welcomed students from multiple local high schools, including PV, to take part in an open gallery, where they could display and sell their artwork to those that stopped by to take a look. The event ran from 6-8 pm, and there was never a lack of beholders for the entirety of the evening – the large space seemed quite small due to the incredible crowd. The enthusiasm for art was prevalent in the eyes of the viewers, and in the conversations between students, friends, and locals.

Senior Nina Reisinger was one of PV’s AP art students that had her hard work on display. “AP art is challenging but it is pushing us to put out the best possible work we can, and that is evident in this show. It is a really awesome experience to get to hang our art in a gallery among so many talented students from the community,” she said of the event and her year in art so far.

Not only were students honored in being able to display their artwork, but several PV students also won awards given out by the center. Senior Abby Clemens won Best Pop Art for her piece, and Senior Gabbi Donnelly won Best Surrealist Art.

PV was well represented on Friday evening, and knows that all of its art students will continue to make the student body proud. After this amazing event, the district art show cannot come soon enough!
