Spring-Ford Dresses to the Occasion for Superhero Day

It is spirit week at Spring-Ford Senior High School, and students there have wholly committed to the part in a way that only a Yam could.  Multiple Spring-Ford cheerleaders thought that the only way they could represent their school was to imitate another.  On Tuesday the 18th, these cheerleaders dressed up as Perkiomen Valley cheerleaders holding signs reading such things as “We got lucky” and “Rams are Yams” (which they are).  Trying to be as unbiased as possible, this is still a harebrained move by the Rams.

Losing by 12 points to a team that has not lost  game since last November is expected, not luck.  PV has been one of the most proficient teams in the state on both sides of the ball, due in large part to the leadership of quarterback, Stephen Sturm.  Sturm has accounted for 2,366 all-purpose yards (2,150 passing, 216 rushing this season) including 29 total touchdowns (25 passing, 4 rushing) this season.

Sturm’s extraordinary success so far this season has most recently pushed him further into the Pennsylvania record books.  His 210-yard performance against Norristown this past week allowed him to pass Chad Henne on the PA career passing yards list.  Henne, currently a backup for Blake Bortles and the Jacksonville Jaguars, threw for 7,071 yards from 2000-2003 at Wilson West-Lawn.  But, if Sturm throws for 241 yards and is responsible for three total touchdowns (2 passing, 1 rushing), it must just be luck.

I thought it may be more fitting that Spring-Ford would give credit where credit is due, but even their head coach, Chad Brubaker, blamed the game on the Rams’ sloppy play and said that they lost the game, PV did not win it.

Why wouldn’t you honor a team that is ranked at 3rd in District 1 and 7th in all of Pennsylvania Class 6A, according to pafootballnews.com?  Perk Valley has absolutely made a name for themselves this season after beating prominent teams like Spring-Ford, Pennridge, and most notably, the Haverford School, who had won 21 straight games before battling the Vikings.  The Vikings look to seal the deal and be named the best team in the PAC-10 come October 28th as they take on high-caliber Pottsgrove for the title.

When it is all said and done, Spring-Ford still lost and it really is not worth them trying to make excuses for such a crushing blow.
